Official Public Records Request Act (PRA) Request

The Kings County Clerk/Recorder is the recorder of real property documents and the custodian of all non judicial public records. Other duties include the issuance and registration of Marriage Licenses; Birth, Death, and Marriage Certificates; Fictitious Business Names; Photocopier and Unlawful Detainer Licenses; Notary Bond Filings and Oaths; and the Licensing of Process Servers and Legal Document Assistants.

The types of documents that may be filed with the County Clerk/Recorder are established by California law. Once a document is recorded it becomes a public record.

This office does not provide online access to our recorded documents, real estate records, or related indexes via the internet.

The Kings County Clerk/Recorder’s Office Public Records system allows us to provide, as a free service to our community, searchable indexes for Fictitious Business Names, CEQA filings, Notaries and Professional Registrations online. In addition to these indexes, applications for Fictitious Business Names, Marriage/Birth/Death Records and Marriage Licenses are also available online.

Once these applications are submitted to the Clerk/Recorder’s Office the applicant(s) will need to come into the office to complete the transaction.  Further instructions can be found on the application forms.  We hope you will find these services useful.

The Clerk-Recorder is also the local commissioner of Civil Marriages.  Wedding ceremonies are performed on Thursdays by appointment.  Please call the office for more information at (559)-852-2470 or by email at Clerkrecorder@co.kings.ca.us.
