In 1860 my great grandfather William Henry Thayer walked out to California from Missouri and purchased farmland on the Tulare Lake bottom. He farmed that area for many years before establishing a dairy on the outskirts of Corcoran, in what is now the 4,000 block of Whitley Avenue. My grandfather, Clarence Thayer was born on that dairy, but later moved his family into Tulare County after losing the dairy during the Great Depression. Many of my ancestors are buried here in Kings County after pouring a considerable amount of blood, sweat and tears into our beloved Kings County soil.
Following my family’s commitment to bettering Kings County, I began my 35-year law enforcement career with the Kings County Sheriff's Office in 1989. Retiring in November 2024 as the Undersheriff, I am blessed with the privilege to continue serving in our beloved County, just in a different capacity as the elected District 5 Supervisor.
Together with my wife Kim, we raised our now three adult children in Hanford. All three of our kids have an undergraduate degree and have become difference makers in their own circles of influence.
I look forward to utilizing my extensive skill set and helping my constituents however I can.
All my best,
Robert Thayer, District Supervisor
