Vote YES on Measure T to help maintain essential City services in Hanford—without raising taxes on residents.

Measure T simply updates the City’s Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT)—the tax paid by hotel and vacation rental guests—from the current rate of 8% to 12%. This tax is primarily paid by overnight visitors, not by Hanford residents.

The City’s TOT rate of 8% has stayed the same for more than 40 years. Meanwhile, cities such as Fresno, Clovis, Selma, Kingsburg and Porterville have raised their rates to 12%. Some cities in other parts of the state have even higher rates. Modestly adjusting the City’s TOT to align more closely with surrounding communities would generate approximately $375,000 in much-needed additional revenue each year. These funds cannot be taken by Sacramento and will be reinvested in Hanford to strengthen core City services.

Revenue from Measure T may be used for police and fire protection, parks and recreation programming, maintenance of City parks and youth sports facilities, and improvements to other public infrastructure such as streets and sidewalks. These are the services that keep Hanford safe, clean, and an attractive place to live, work, and visit.

Measure T is a responsible, common-sense approach that not only contributes to Hanford’s financial stability and quality of life but ensures that visitors pay their fair share toward the services and public amenities they use.

Support Hanford’s future. Vote YES on Measure T.
