The Kings County Elections Department invites the public, the media, members of the Grand Jury, political parties, and any interested party to observe the election activities as scheduled for the upcoming April 28, 2026, Avenal Recall Election.
Logic and Accuracy Testing:
Pre-LAT testing is scheduled to commence, Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. and continuing daily (except for Saturdays, Sundays and holidays) until completed, at the Elections Department located at 1400 W. Lacey Blvd. Building #7 Hanford, CA. (EC15000)
Processing of Vote-by-Mail (VBM) ballots:
Processing of returned Vote-by-Mail ballots will commence Monday, March 30, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. and continuing daily (except for Saturdays, Sundays and holidays) dependent upon volume, at the Elections Department. (EC15101)
Canvass:
The official canvass is scheduled to commence Thursday, April 30, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. and it will continue daily (except for Saturdays, Sundays and holidays) at the Elections Department. A minimum of six hours will be dedicated to the canvass process daily until completed. (EC15301) Activities of the canvass include, but are not limited to, processing of outstanding Vote-by-Mail ballots, processing provisional and conditional ballots, duplication of any damaged ballots, and the 1% manual tally of votes.
